First Deadline

Last lessons we have been working with Khan Academy with the exercises in  “Cryptography challenge 101”. Here we had to decode texts that were written with the “Caesar Code”, “Vigenere Code”, and so on. First we had to find out what each code was. To help us we watched some videos that showed us how each code was created. We followed clues that put our knowledge into practice. In the following text we will give you some tipps about how to locate a keyword. The keyword is like a password, it is a path to the solution. Without it you would not be able to decode the texts written with the “Vigenere code”. This word can indicate you the answer of the problem. Vigenere cipher is a poly-alphabetic substitution system, created by Blaise de Vigenère. Using generally a key and a table, it allows the replacement of a letter by another one, which is not always the same. There may appear some problems. Finding the key, is not as easy as it seems. To do so, it is important to remember one thing: locating information and paying attention to the video.

In order to solve all the problems that showed up, we used some strategies that were very useful. Some of them were the videos that Khan Academy offered to us, the hints that were below the clues and some extra information from Google.
The define skills were very important for us to reach the solution. First of all we had to find the problem and then we were be able to solve it. You have to be very focused on what you need. To discover you have to analyze the situation step by step. Once you identify the problem, the solution will appear easily. It is not as complex as it seems. Do not be afraid! Try at least once to solve the clues, you will have a great time.

Here is a video about the Caesar cipher:

We hope you enjoyed our post. Stay tuned for more!
