Hi everyone and welcome back to our blog! This week we worked in Khan Academy with a new topic: defining clues with the Caesar Cypher, do you know it? We didn't until we worked on this.
So in this Blog you will find the discovery we did and the Definition of it. We hope you enjoy it!
"A lock is only as strong as his weakest point". This is very interesting, like the Caesar Cypher.
Fist of all, what is a Cipher? They are mechanical operations, known as algorithms, that are performed on individual or small chunks of letters. In this case, we don’t need a codebook. Instead, we follow a series of instructions, also known as an algorithm. The algorithm requires one piece of shared information known as a key.The letters in the alphabet are mapped to a different letter, like they are shifted X steps to the right or to the left, changing the meaning. The letters in the alphabet are mapped to a different letter, like they are shifted X steps to the right or to the left, changing the meaning. Now is known as the Ceaser Cipher. Now is known as the Ceaser CipherThe Ceaser Cipher was a algorithm that used by Julius Ceaser around 59 B.C. He shifted each letter in his military commands in order to make them appear meaningless if the enemy intercept it.
To make the challenges that Khan Academy had for us, we had to do some research about what Cipher is and the difference between Cipher and Code. This two are the most famous encrypted systems. Also we had to pay attention to the videos and watch it many times to clearly understand how did it worked.
Also we found other tipes of Ceaser Code but they used numbers instead of letters. Other tipe was that the letters had different shifting of each one. An example is like one letter you have to shift it three steps to left and another one five steps to the right. So it is much complicate to decipher.
Here is a very interesting and useful video to discover keys and clues with the Caesar Cipher:
